Augusta’s boys soccer team picked up its second win of the season Tuesday by beating Mulvane 2-0 on the road. It’s the second win against Mulvane so far this year, and a much more convincing one, at that.
Freshman Anthony Orocio scored his first varsity goal in the contest. Connor Davis also added a goal for the Orioles, and the defense pitched a shutout on the night.
The win comes after the Orioles took sixth place at the Ark City tournament with a 1-2 finish. After losing the opener to Independence 1-0, the Orioles beat the same Mulvane Wildcats 2-1 in double overtime. Davis scored the Orioles’ goal in regulation. Freshman Wyatt Pankratz scored the game-winning golden goal in overtime to lift the Orioles to victory.
Augusta lost its final game of the tournament to the hosting Ark City Bulldogs 2-0.
