The Varsity Circle boys and girls team traveled to Wamego on Saturday to compete against 24, 3A, and 4A schools. The boys won a very competitive meet with a low score of 66 points. Hugoton the 3A state champions, now 4A, finished second with 85 points, followed by El Dorado with 148 points. The Circle boys were led by  Sophomore  Eli Jacobson placing fifth out of 163 with a time of 17.17, while Emmitt Keller finished seventh in 17.20. Avery Stuever took 14th with a time of 17.41. Ryan Derry took18th in 17.51,and Bryson Schoenhoffer placed 28th in 18.07. Circle’s sixth runner, Corbin Tandy finished 36th in 18.35.

The Circle girls placed 7th out of 19 teams in class 4A. The girls were led by junior Kelsie Kelly who placed 8th out of 143 with a time of 21.05. Kristen Horyna placed 23rd in 21.49, Emma Willour took 53rd in 22.53, Alyssa Fullington 54th in 22.53, and Kate Webb 63rd in 23.18.

“The girls are still improving and we look forward each meet watching their progress.” said Circle head coach Gary Wartick.

The El Dorado boys team finished with three medalists. Cale Carson took fourth with a time of 17:03. Ezekiel Kemboi finished 20th with a time of 17:58, and Christian Price took 26th with a time of 18:07 for the third-place Wildcats.
