The El Dorado boys cross country team has plenty of experience heading into the season, as four of the top five runners are returning.

“If each of those four runners shows some improvement, and we find a consistent fifth runner, I think we have an opportunity to be a solid 4A program,” said head coach David Herrs.

“I believe senior Cale Carson has an opportunity to have a great season. He ran very well for us last year and he has been off to a fine start. He finished second in the 800m run at the State Track meet last spring, and he has finished as first team all-league the last two years. Junior Ezekiel Kemboi continues to improve each season. He has also finished as first team all-league the last two years. I think he will be even better this year.”

Juniors Christian Price and Adam Haines also return. Both Price and Haines have been second team all-league for the Wildcats the past two seasons.

The girls team has no returning juniors or seniors.

“We will have only two sophomores and four freshmen, none of which have any significant varsity experience,” said Herrs.

”I think our girls have worked hard so far, and I’m hoping that we show quite a bit of improvement by the end of the season.”

The Wildcats will travel to Augusta for their first meet on Sep. 2 at 8 a.m.
