The El Dorado Wildcats are off to a hot start this year after breaking a school record for wins last season. The Wildcats traveled to Winfield High School to participate in an invitational where they finished 5-0 on the day. Head coach Chelsea Helena has begun to turn the volleyball program around as the Wildcats look like they will be able to do some damage again this season. The Wildcats began the morning with a victory in two sets over Chanute by scores of 25-16 and 25-20.

The Wildcats continued to dominate, beating Mulvane 25-13 and 25-20. The Wildcats jumped ahead early in the second set before Mulvane slowly came back, but were unable to overcome the deficit. Carly Clennan finished with seven kills against Mulvane.

The Wildcats’ third match was more difficult, as they trailed the third set 8-15 before clawing their way back to earn the 25-20 victory over Ark City.

The Wildcats’ toughest match was with Wellington as each set was determined by three points or less. El Dorado won the first set 25-23 before dropping the second by a score of 25-22. The final set went to extra points as El Dorado escaped with a 26-24 win.

El Dorado beat Conway Springs in two sets, 25-21 and 25-14, to finish the day 5-0.
