Bligh Madris, an outfielder for Colorado Mesa University and the Kansas Cannons this summer, has been drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the ninth round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft.

Madris finished the year hitting for a .422/.513/.757 line with 17 home runs in 218 at-bats. He also stole 14 bases in 18 attempts. Madris was a conference player of the year and a bright spot wherever he's played. He won the home run derby at the All-Star game and was the summer's Most Valuable Player last season as a Cannon.
