The odds were not in the Wildcats favor on Tuesday night with two of their leading scorers out with illness. Circle took advantage of that en route to a 57-29 victory at the Bird Cage.

Kyle Koehler scored four quick points for El Dorado to open the game but Circle responded with an 11-0 run to take the lead, something they wouldn’t give back. Talon Jernigan gave the T-Birds a 5-4 lead as he followed his own miss for a put back. Cal Hartley hit his first of three hits from deep giving Circle an 11-4 lead.

El Dorado answered with a three ball of their own by Tyler Michaelis but Jude Warren quickly joined the party knocking one down from deep as Circle ended the opening quarter with a 16-7 lead.

Circle continued the long ball in the second quarter as Warren hit his second three to begin the frame. Koehler gave El Dorado a bucket, but the Cats left Warren open on the following possession as he buried his third shot from deep giving Circle a 22-13 lead. El Dorado got a late bucket, but Circle answered with yet another three as they took a 25-15 lead into the break.

Buckets by Colby Johnson and Peyton Duryea brought El Dorado to within six at 27-21 but Cal Hartley took over. Hartley got a hand on an El Dorado pass for a steal leading to a Cameron Straw layup. Hartley then converted back-to-back and-one possessions as Circle quickly added to their lead at 39-23.

Hartley finished off the quarter with a beautiful reverse layup on a strong drive to give Circle a 41-25 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Circle ran away from the Cats in the fourth quarter opening with a Hartley layup and three ball from Warren giving them a 48-25 lead. El Dorado couldn’t get in rhythm as they fell 57-29.

El Dorado will travel to Winfield on Friday while Circle will be at home against Augusta.
