Flinthills’ girls basketball team got balanced scoring and played tough defense on way to a big 49-21 win at Oxford Tuesday night.
Taylor Bisbee hit three field goals and connected on all four free throws to score 10 points. Harley Ratcliff hit three 3-pointers and finished with 10 points, and Alyssa Howard added 10 points as well for the Mustangs.
Gina Brown scored eight points and had team highs of nine rebounds and five steals. Flinthills’ defense suffocated Oxford and came away with a whopping 18 steals in all.
The Mustang boys were not as fortunate. After the two teams were tied 10-10 through one quarter, Oxford took control with a 20-8 second quarter. The Mustangs were unable to erase that deficit in a 52-35 loss.
Stevie Becker had 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots for the Mustangs. Holton Nelson, Kedryn Morse and Gage Peterson all added five points apiece. Nelson also had three assists, three steals and two rebounds while Peterson added four rebounds and Morse added two steals.
