Fire crews from across the county responded to a grass fire near the intersection of Highway 254 and Ohio St. north of Augusta Sunday afternoon. The winds were close to 30 mph with higher gusts and the tall dead prairie grass gave the flames plenty of fuel to challenge the firefighters.
The Butler County History Center and Kansas Oil Museum has a library and collections area more extensive than most people realize. They are hoping to make that more known through an "accessible archives" project.
A run/walk benefit fundraising event for Brylei Thindiu will be held on Nov. 30 at the Augusta City Lake, and sponsored by LakePoint of Augusta. Registration and check-in will be at 9 a.m. and the four-mile Loop of the Lake will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Three event highlights1 The Annual Pre-Thanksgiving Community Dinner continues to see growth each year. Last year they served about 1,000 people, up from the 800 the previous year. They are planning for 1,000 again this year.
