Generous Hearts make Thanksgiving amazing
To the Editor,
What an amazing Thanksgiving Day in Augusta for the Sixth Annual Generous Hearts Thanksgiving Dinner! A delicious meal and beautiful weather - a lot to be thankful for.
The Generous Hearts of Augusta Thanksgiving Day Luncheon was a success because of all the generous folks who live, work and volunteer - basically giving back to the community. There were approximately 650-675 folks that enjoyed the dinner this year and that was a combined total of deliveries, carry-outs, and dine-ins.
There are so many people in the community to thank. We had an abundance of cooks, pie makers, kitchen help, delivery people, pie cutters, servers, clean up, parking lot attendants, door greeters, etc.
From the monetary donations, the donation of the Augusta Senior Center - a great facility, the use of supplies from the First Christian Church (roasters, trays, pitchers, beverage servers, serving carts, etc.). Everyone rallied around to make the dinner a huge success.
We had repeat volunteers and new families who have moved into Augusta.
Families are making the dinner a tradition of volunteering and then sitting down for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with family, friends, and neighbors.
It was so heart warming to see the community come together and enjoy themselves. If you missed it, you might want to mark your calendar for next year - it’s something you won’t forget.
Augusta is so blessed to have so many people caring for people with such generous hearts. Thank you everyone. It was amazing!
Wishing all the Generous Hearts of Augusta a blessed holiday season.
