Thankful for veterans’ parade, celebrations
To the Editor,
I want to say a "thank you" to the citizens of El Dorado for honoring the veterans. It was a great parade and for honoring them at the Civic Center on Saturday morning. I am glad that I am resident of El Dorado. I am thankful for those who are actively involved in making sure the veterans are honored. As the speaker said on Saturday, that we should never forget the men and women who have served and are serving. We should be thankful for each sacrifice they have made.
I am thankful for American Legion and VFW for putting together the active on Saturday. I wish more people would have attended. They missed a very great program. Thank you, fellow veterans!

Douglass community proud of DHS musical
To the Editor,
We wanted to thank Amanda Penninger and Melinda Woody, the Music Director and Assistant Director of Douglass High School's recent musical, "The Wizard of Oz".
The performance was fantastic as was the dinner preceding the event. The high quality meal was perfectly themed to coordinate with the midwest setting of the play - including such things as barbecue brisket, corn on the cob, pulled pork, homemade yeast rolls, and dessert.
As we walked into the high school facility, we felt as if we were transported onto the set itself - the entry decorations were amazing. Above the entry door was a gigantic tornado, and then the lobby entry area presented a few mini sets of the musical. The table decorations were also gorgeous.
However, the real stars of the show were all the hard-working actors and singers who participated in this production. The high level of commitment shone through in the passion they displayed in their roles. It was obvious they were having serious fun on the stage!
Many kudos also to all the volunteers who helped with staging, costuming, decorations, technical support, and more. We sincerely enjoyed ourselves and give a heartfelt "CONGRATULATIONS" to everyone for an impeccable musical.
You did Douglass High School and the community of Douglass proud!
