Where do we drop off our payments, submit death notices and articles/fundraisers for Augusta?  I enjoy the smiles from Rhonda and Belinda when I drop off information about a church fundraiser, birthday celebration, garage sale, etc.

You know, the writing was on the wall.  First they moved and downsized, second they cut back on the hours they were open, and third, they’re closing the office.  It’s called corporate greed.

So the Augusta employees have to drive to El Dorado?  Leave the Augusta office open and let the employees do their job right here in their home town.

I have had a subscription to the Augusta newspaper for 41 years.   At times, I thought about discontinuing it, as it went from a daily paper to three times a week and with most the news being old by the time I receive the paper, but I enjoy the articles written by local reporters, coverage of class reunions, anniversaries, birthdays,  death announcements, etc.   I keep renewing my subscription because it’s kept jobs for my friends Belinda and Rhonda.   Perhaps the “corporate” owners could rethink their decision in closing the Augusta office?  Let our local people have a presence in Augusta.

The article about closing the office was well written.  I understand the reasons, but I find it very sad for our town.  I hope Augusta news will still be covered.

A town newspaper is important, whether you hold it in your hand or read it on a screen.  People do want to read about what’s going on in their neighborhood and find out about the people who live here.  I liked knowing that I could drive downtown and visit the office.  It’s going to take some getting used to.

I have visited our newspaper office several times, a couple of times I was there to handle obituaries.  Belinda Larsen helped guide me through what was needed and was very kind and sympathetic.  I know she was busy, but she let me talk quite awhile about my dad.  I felt better when I left.

Concerning the Augusta newspaper office closing; Just keep printing Augusta news and sports.  It doesn’t have to be all about El Dorado.  And keep those Tales of Butler County coming.

I think that grouches should stay off of Viewpoints. Only nice people with compliments and happy thoughts should submit items to the Times/Gazette Viewpoints.
