Fireworks need turned down

To the Editor,
I have never been in combat, but I've been told that undergoing artillery shelling or bombing is a dreadful, frightening experience.
It occurs to me that what we in El Dorado experienced over the 4th of July may be a rough approximation.  The interminable booming and banging late into the night was excessive.  Others agree and I know pets are often terrified.
Is it asking too much for our city leaders to place some reasonable limitations, both in terms of duration and volume, on the use of fireworks in our city?  A lot of us would be most grateful.
