Thad M. Huggins, 88, passed away on Aug. 11, 2018

Thad McDonald Huggins, 88, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
 The family will gather with friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday; homecoming service led by Pastor Clarence Walker will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, both at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home.  Burial with full military honors will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.  
Thad was born on May 18, 1930 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of William and Della McDonald.  He was adopted by Willie and Anna Huggins from El Dorado, in 1943.  Thad was a 1948 graduate of El Dorado High School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.  Thad was united in marriage to Maudie O’Neal on June 19, 1957 in Wichita.  He worked for Farm ‘N’ Home and Lasting’s Furniture in the late 50’s and early 60’s.  Thad went to work for the Skelly Refinery in 1967, later Getty and retired from Texaco in 1995 after 28 years of service.  He enjoyed watching sports, westerns and reality television.  Thad enjoyed cooking, especially Sunday dinner for his family.  He enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Thad loved to bowl and was a member of the American Legion Post 81.  
He leaves behind: his wife of 61 years Maudie Huggins of El Dorado; son, Kendall (Kim) Huggins of Wichita; daughter, Kendra (Mark) Maurer of Wichita; sister, Arlene Jones of Kansas City, Mo.;  his beloved grandkids, and great grandkids, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; adopted parents; stepmother, Myrtle Huggins; brothers, Carl and William McDonald; sisters, Ada, Evalena, Melva and Cora; and daughter, Sondra Liggin.
