Dorothy B. Schwemmer, 84, passed away on Dec. 29, 2017
Dorothy’s life began on Sept. 23, 1933, the daughter of Jack and Grace (Buckner) Mosier in Rural Towanda, Kan. She graduated from Towanda High School Class of 1951 and then attended Butler Junior College. Dorothy married Raymond “Sam” Schwemmer on Dec. 7, 1952 at the Towanda United Methodist Church. Dorothy retired from Beechcraft as an Executive Administrator. She was a member of the Palmyra Baptist Church, DAR El Dorado Putnam Post, NOKOMIS and was involved in Girl Scouts, 4-H Club, was the Palmyra Church secretary and taught Sunday School for over 20 years. She loved to quilt, make baby blankets and hanky blankies, her flower and vegetable garden, bus trips and traveling.
Her loving family includes her husband, Sam of 65 years; children, Roxanne (Craig) Waltman of Towanda, Nancy (Ed) Wait of Benton, Neil (Susan) Schwemmer of Augusta, Rodney (Cathy) Schwemmer of Benton; sisters, Jolene Pennington of Ohio, Helen (Conley) Terrell of Towanda; grandchildren, Chad Waltman, Jenna (Jake) Myers, Mark (Dani) Wait, Staci Wait, Courtney (Aaron) Powers, Aubrie (Trever) Lockamy, Ashley Schwemmer, Heath (Kelsey) Kennemer, Evan, Trevor and Madison Schwemmer; eight great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Evelyn Griggs. Dorothy passed away, Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, having reached the age of 84 years old.
Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday, Jan. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at Palmyra Baptist Church with Pastor Norman Mosier officiating. Interment will follow at Green Valley Cemetery in Furley, Kan.
