Laura 'Darlene' Turner, 78, of Arkansas City and formerly of El Dorado, passed away on Sept. 18, 2017

Laura ‘Darlene’ Turner, 78, of Arkansas City and formerly of El Dorado, passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of El Dorado.  Cremation will take place after the services.  
Laura Darlene was born on June 11, 1939 in Crocker, Mo., the daughter of George and Ora Alois (Roderick) Greer.   She was reared and educated in El Dorado. On June 26, 1954, she was united in marriage to David Coleman Turner in Harrison, Ark. As young woman, she worked at Graves Soda Fountain.  She and her husband made their home in McFarland and Alma, Kan. for many years.    Darlene also held a position as a file clerk for an insurance company in Topeka, as well as, a nurse’s aide at the United Methodist Home.  She and her husband also ran a successful business together L&T Insulation.  Darlene deepjly loved her Lord, her church and her family.  She enjoyed life with her husband.  Her favorite things were things that sparkled, butterflies, flowers and philodendron plants.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Her family includes:  her husband, David of the home; her son Luther Eugene “Luke”; her daughter, Teresa D. Long and husband Gary A. of Arkansas City; her 5 grandchildren, Angel Darlene and Travis Eugene “Buddy”, Wednesday, Cole and Laura, and 9 great-grandchildren; and host of other family members.  
She was preceded in death by her son, David Coleman Turner, Jr.; 5 siblings, Jack Greer, Fred Greer, Robert Greer, Betty Grigsby and Rita Jean Johnson; and 3 great-grandchildren
