Lora Mae "Dawn" Anderson, 80, passed away on Sept. 18, 2017
Lora Mae Valdawn "Dawn" Anderson, 80, of Augusta, passed away of leukemia on Monday, Sept.18, 2017 in Wichita.
Visitation 1 - 8 p.m. with family present from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday,Sept. 20, 2017, at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at First Christian Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta.
Dawn was born in Browntown, Butler County, Kan. on Feb. 14, 1937, to the late Lora Mae (Elliott) and Alfred Newton Pennington. Dawn was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Piecemakers quilting group. Dawn's greatest joy was her family and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. On Aug. 20, 1954 she married, John Mitchell, who preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1976. On Oct. 8, 1982 she married Dale William Anderson, M.D. in Wichita He preceded her in death on August 25, 2007. She was also preceded in death by: brother, Dick Pennington; sisters, Durene Butler and Dorinda Pennington; son-in-law, Kyle Lockamy; step son, Paul Anderson.
She is survived by: son, Cameron Mitchell and wife Karen of Augusta; daughters, Sheree Preston and husband Lance of Cedar Hill, Texas, Karrie Lockamy of Augusta, Jyneen Martin and husband Mike of Augusta, Jynette Baxter and husband David of Augusta; step daughters, Jody Anderson of Houston, Texas, Sherry Ann Morris and husband Roger of Haysville, Marianne Morrow, and husband Chris of Wichita, Michelle Madison, and husband Wayne, Jr., of Wichita, Renae Anderson and husband Terry of Wichita, Lisa Jaqua and husband Gary of Acworth, Ga. brother, Dennis Pennington of Udall, Kim Pennington and wife Karen of Lancaster, Texas, Dana Pennington and wife Anne of Johnson City, SD; sister, Deanna McClellan of Augusta; 24 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren.
