Michael Tod Wilson, 57, of Augusta, Kansas passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at home after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8 at 1 P.M. at the Shelley Family Funeral Home Chapel, interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation with family greeting friends will be on Thursday, September 7 from 5-7 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made out to the Cowley County Food Bank, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home – 803 Loomis Winfield, KS 67156.

Michael Tod Wilson was born on April 4, 1960 in Winfield, Kansas to proud parents Alva and Bertha (Mann) Wilson. Michael grew up in the Winfield area and attended the Winfield High School and received an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Cowley County Community College. Michael was united in marriage to Mary Gengler on October 9, 1992 in Winfield. He worked as a correctional facility officer for many years he also worked in the oil fields. Michael loved being outside as well as going fishing and camping. He was known to be a talker and was always telling tall tales, he was always willing to give a helping hand to friend or stranger and Michael dearly loved his family, especially his wife and his grandsons.

Michael is survived by his wife Mary Wilson, son Andrew Wilson, daughter Emily Christner and husband Jerry, grandsons: Peyton and Ethan, as well as many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
