Berta M. Botkin, 82, passed away on  Aug. 30, 2017, at Homestead of El Dorado.
Visitation with family present will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m., led by Pastor Jim Helzer, both on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Cassoday United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in the Cassoday Cemetery.
Berta was born on Dec. 7, 1934 on the family farm in Luray, Kan.  She was the daughter of  Ture Adolph and Lottie Viola (Bean) Olson.  She was a graduate of Luray High School and Fort Hays State College.  She was active in 4-H as a leadership champion and enjoyed playing basketball.  Berta also attended classes at Wichita State University.  She was united in marriage to Lyle Botkin on May 19, 1956 in Thornton, Colo.  Berta taught school in Weskan, Kan. for two years and was a substitute teacher in the Wichita schools for 13 years.   She was an active and faithful member of the Cassoday United Methodist Church, and active in the Cassoday Senior Center.  
Her loving family includes: her children, Priscilla (Richard) Smith of Kechi,  David (Laurie) Botkin of Wichita, and Curtis ( Michelle) Botkin of Burns; grandchildren, Samuel (Sarah) Smith, Miranda Botkin, Eric Marshall, Lindsey ( James) Hargraves, and Beau Bonner; great grandchildren, Noah and Easton Hargraves; and sisters Sharon (Jim) Cochran of Russell, and Kay (Harry) Norman of Thornton, Colo.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyle Botkin, one brother and three sisters.
