Ralph Ray Nelson, U.S. Army veteran, passed away on July 8, 2017, at El Dorado Care and Rehab.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017, at Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1930 in El Dorado to George Ray and Vera May(Frederick) Nelson. Ralph enlisted in the Army in 1947 at the age of 17.He served until 1951. Ralph served in Korea. After getting discharged from the Army , he enlisted in the Marines and was stationed in Alaska. When he came home he went to work for the Coleman Company in Wichita. He then worked at a shoe and leather repair shop until he retired. After retirement Ralph enjoyed spending his time working on puzzles and being at the El Dorado Senior Center, where he'd eat lunch everyday. Ralph was an avid reader; enjoying westerns and war stories the most; he had read all of Louis L'Amour books. He loved spending every chance he got with his son Rodney.
Ralph is survived by: his son Rodney; longtime family friends, Nova Lee Mikel and Anthony Howe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruby; brothers, Robert and Roy Nelson; his aunt Bessie E. Frederick.
