Manuel Cabrales, Jr., 88, passed away on June 23, 2017, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, surrounded by his loving family.
Friends may gather with family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 26, at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, El Dorado.  A rosary will be held at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at St. John’s Catholic Church in El Dorado.  Burial will be at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.
Manuel was born on Nov. 16, 1928, in Augusta, the son of Manuel and Carmen (Contreras) Cabrales. He graduated high school in Augusta. Manuel faithfully served his country in the Army National Guard. He was united in marriage to Ruth Cervantes on July 29, 1950 in El Dorado. He retired from the Texaco Refinery as a lab technician. Manuel enjoyed working with wood and considered himself a handyman. He was always tinkering. He loved cars and enjoyed being a shade tree mechanic. Manuel was an avid Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved and cared for his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His loving family includes: his wife Ruth of El Dorado; son, Rick (Suella) Cabrales of El Dorado; grandchildren, Heath, Amanda, Tony, Erika, and Felicia; great-grandchildren, Aviana, Isaac, Abraham, Philip, Mercedes, Michael, Manny and Evyn.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Pena; sisters, Lucy Carillo, Helen Gallardo, Rosemary Cabrales; brother, Carlos Cabrales; and his parents.
