Pat Ilene Johnson, 91, passed away on June 15, 2017
Pat Ilene “Ruby” Johnson, 91, passed away on June 15, 2017, at the Catholic Care Center.
Funeral service and visitation were held this afternoon at the Prairie Rose Chuckwagon Museum building.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1925 in Renfro, Okla. to William "Bill" and Alice G. (Kilian) Smetana. She was raised during the dust bowl in Oklahoma, graduated from Medford High School and began working as a key punch operator at Boeing. It was there that she met the love of her life, Rex M. Johnson. They were married on Dec. 31, 1945 and Pat began her journey as a stay at home mom. Even as a stay at home mom Pat was a lifelong worker; a trait that she instilled in her children; and was very meticulous about her yard and he house as she would dust and vacuum many times throughout the week. She was very hands on with her children and later grandchildren teaching many of them to play catch and ball. She enjoyed being a hostess to gatherings for her church and was even part of a bowling team for her church. As her children grew older she became a realtor and thoroughly enjoyed selling homes; especially to first time buyers and "suburbans". With all of Pat's experiences her favorite thing that she loved most was her family; her kids, grandkids and later on her great and great-great grandkids. She loved cooking from scratch and having big family get togethers.
Pat is survived by: son Greg Johnson (JW) and their son Colton Johnson; son Doug Johnson and his children Garrett and Ross Johnson; daughter, Debbie Atkins (Dav) and their children Stacy Marshall, Tori Perez and Ryan Atkins; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and other famiy and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Alice; husband, Rex; and brother, Harry Smetana.
