Be aware of road project beginning Monday

A mill and overlay project on nearly 19 miles of K-196 from the Harvey/Butler county line east to the K-254 junction in Butler County is scheduled to begin Sept. 17.

A flagging and pilot car operation will control traffic.

APAC Kansas Shears Division of Hutchinson is the primary contractor for the $2,230,491 project. APAC has 45 working days to complete the project.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs and “Give ’Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. Persons with questions about this road work or other KDOT projects may call South Central Kansas Public Affairs Manager Deb Gruver at 620-663-3361.
