Three car collision shuts down road for half hour Friday evening

A three car crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. Friday near the sale barn on US 54 east of El Dorado, near Bluestem Road.
Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet reported that one person was critically injured and airlifted by Eagle Med to Wesley Hospital in Wichita.  Another person, seriously injured, was transported to Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
The crash occurred when a 2014 GMC (vehicle 1), operated by Michelle Lynn of Altamont, Kan., was traveling in the westbound lane when it was struck in the rear by a 2000 Ford Explorer (vehicle 2), operated by G. Walters of Leon, causing the 2014 GMC to enter the eastbound lane, striking another vehicle, a 2018 Ford Explorer (vehicle 3), operated by Rodney Berg of Phoenix, Ariz.
The driver of vehicle 1 was airlifted in critical condition and the driver of vehicle 2 was transported to a local hospital.  
The highway was closed for approximately 30 minutes.
