A group of about 100 inmates refused to go back to their cells and set fires at the El Dorado Correctional Facility Sunday afternoon.

The inmates refused to return to their cells about noon and did not comply with Corrections Officers until about 4:30 p.m.

Kansas Department of Corrections Director of Public Affairs/Chief of Staff Samir Arif said there were no injuries reported and there was no danger to the community.

An investigation has been launched to find out the cause of the inmate uprising.
