The Augusta Department of Public Safety in collaboration with the DEA will be engaged in the National Take Back Initiative from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.on Saturday, April 28, at the Safety Building, 2100 N. Ohio St. The initiative is an effort focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets This national take-back day will provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.
• No needles may be accepted. Intra-venous (IV) solutions, injectable, and syringes will NOT be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.
• Inhalers and other compressed air cylinders will NOT be accepted.
