Community recognizes veterans

El Dorado has a long history of honoring our country’s veterans.  From The Celebration of Freedom Memorial on the Butler County Courthouse lawn to the annual Kansas Veterans Family Reunion to the many events held each year at local museums, schools and churches.
El Dorado Main Street wanted to recognize the sacrifice each veteran makes for the country and initiated the Veteran Banner program.
The banners will be displayed twice this year from the middle of April through the end of May, and again in October through the middle of November.
The following veterans will be featured on banners this  year:
Josh Anders, John Barnes, Edmond Bratton, O.J. Connell, Howard Cool, Ted Dankert, Branson Deen, William Douglass, Pansy Dunham, Wayne Fowler, William Fudge, Cletus Haines, James Hargrove, Harold Harmon, Gary Lee, John Padgett, Malcom Shaffer, Glen Spencer, Dwight Wernli, and William Yaryan.
