Giving back on Spring Break

While some students spend their spring breaks at home, the beach or another fun destination, a few local kids participated in service projects.
Armed with paint brushes, trash bags, brooms and rakes, students around Augusta pitched in and assisted residents this week with various projects.
The work was performed on Wednesday morning, followed by lunch provided by the United Methodist Church, and the afternoon was spent playing games and having fun.
UMC Children and Youth Director Jessica Bates reported that 36 students worked at six different sites, where six adults were on hand to direct the work.
“This was the second year for the project and many of the students participated last year, too.  It was good to see them back,” Bates said.  “I think they all came away with a little bit more community pride.”
