Elks Lodge 1407 presented the El Dorado YMCA with a donation of two new soccer goal nets on Tuesday, Feb. 6. The nets cost about $200 total for the pair.

When the ninth annual Elks Mid-America Regional Soccer Shoot was held for kids at the El Dorado Middle School soccer field on Nov. 4 & 5 last year, members of the El Dorado Elks noticed that the goal nets had deteriorated. Since the YMCA manages that field and uses it frequently for soccer programs, the Elks decided to give the Y a couple new nets to improve the field.

"We just knew there was a need of it," Loren Anthony, soccer chairman for Lodge 1407, said.

The YMCA is grateful for the donation and knows the nets will be put to good use by the soccer players.

"They utilize those goals almost every day for practice and games. So these new nets will be great replacements that are much-needed," Jessica Rall, branch director at the El Dorado Y, said.
