Another life lost at K254 and Ohio St.
A 17-year-old girl from Towanda was driving west on K-254, when she turned south at Ohio St., into the path of a pickup truck traveling east on K-254. The truck hit the girl’s car on the passenger side and she was thrown from the vehicle.
The crash occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on Friday evening. A sheriff’s deputy witnessed the collision.
“The impact was so strong that the pickup went through the car,” Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet reported.
Herzet stated that it appears the girl operating the car failed to yield the right-of-way.
An El Dorado man was driving the pickup with his 1-year-old child in a car safety seat in the backseat.
“We believe the truck rolled a couple of times. We’re lucky there weren’t three deaths,” Herzet advised.
The man declined treatment at the scene, but advised he and the child would be evaluated at the hospital.
