Arctic plunge this weekend

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning, which may mean that winter is sticking around. Kansas will see cold air this weekend and possibly snow. Today and Saturday will have highs between 40 and 50 and partly sunny and windy. The arctic plunge occurs Saturday night into Sunday, when temps will drop below freezing and stay until mid-day on Monday.

Chances for precipitation for our area will be late Monday into Tuesday with a mix of rain and snow. As for the precipitation side of the forecast, while some sources have mentioned a dusting/flurries in South Central Kansas on Sunday, most of the predicted activity seems to be focused on the center of the state.  Better precip chances for our region arrive late on Monday and continue through Tuesday, when we could see a wintry mix of rain and snow.
