Trustees welcome Lance Lechtenberg
The Butler Community College Board of Trustees swore in newest trustee Lance Lechtenberg, District 3, position 6, at Tuesday’s monthly meeting.
Lechtenberg, a financial advisor at Edward Jones in El Dorado, is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Lechtenberg, a native of Nebraska, joined Edward Jones in 2002. He has made El Dorado his home. Both he and his wife, Lisa Lechtenberg, also of Nebraska, have three children, ages 3, 6 and 9.
The second eldest of eight, Lechtenberg has a heart for serving, especially students. Four of his siblings, as well as his father are/were involved in education, as a teacher or coach.
“When it comes to supporting education, it’s pretty easy to do,” Lechtenberg said. “I enjoy serving in the community.”
Trustee Jim Howell was named the new appointment for Educational Facilties Authority of Butler County.
The board recognized Larry Friesen and Brett Trimpe for helping to facilitate the WSU 2 + 2 Engineering and Engineering Technology Degree Agreement.
BCC President Dr. Kimberly Krull presented a recognition certificate issued to the college by AVID for being an AVID Highly Certified Institution for the 2017-2018 school year.
“We are the only Kansas college that is AVID and we applaud you for this achievement and we look forward to continuing to provide quality results for students through AVID,” Krull stated.
Dr. Krull advised the trustees that it is time for the annual evaluation of the Board of Trustees and the self-evaluation is due by Feb.1, 2018.
The results will be provided to the Board and President, including a summary of the individual evaluations.
The Board will set a work session next month to review and discuss the results and identify areas of strength and areas in need of improvement. The Board will determine an appropriate plan of action to apply the results.
The trustees approved the Consent Agenda, which included the following contract approvals:
Catherine Meneffee as temporary full time English instructor.
Leslie Pierson as part-time instructor and Reference Librarian.
Contract renewal for Tim Schaffner as head football coach.
Contract renewals for Brice Vignery, Wade Weibert, Steve Braet, Jordan Abbott, Kyle Woodall, and Hunter Vaughn as assistant football coaches.
Lisa Lechtenberg as head volleyball coach.
Brian Foster as temporary full time Interactive 3D instructor.
Retirement of Jay Moorman, Dean of Fine Arts Communication.
