Gilkey first started thinking about becoming a business coach during her days as a dental hygienist, when she saw dentists and other medical professionals working with coaches and trainers to learn how to run the business part of their practice. After 17 years working in dentistry, Gilkey decided it was time for a change and, after obtaining her health insurance license, took a job as an area manager for 360care. She was so good at her job that the company started asking her to help train their inside sales team, which markets for the company’s current 16-state area. That’s when she started to see sales and business coaching clearly in her future.
“As I had the opportunity to work with other sales professionals, I found that I really enjoyed public speaking, leading sales teams to success and helping people meet their goals. I thought back to the consultants I saw working with the dentists and how much their guidance could positively impact the business and I thought, you know, that’s something I would love to be able to do. That’s when I found The Growth Coach, and, as I did my research, everything was just jumping off the page. This was what I had been looking for. The Growth Coach gives me a gateway to make a positive impact on business leaders in my community,” Gilkey said.
