The Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees has recently welcomed two new members to the Board.
Jeremy Sundgren is a Real Estate Broker and Auctioneer at Sundgren Realty and Auction in El Dorado.
He grew up between Rosalia and El Dorado and now lives in El Dorado. Sundgren attended Butler Community College and Kansas State University. Then in 2000, while attending K-State, he became licensed in Real Estate and since has received his Brokers license in Kansas. He started working at Sundgren Realty in 2001.
“It was a good opportunity for me to do something I enjoy and help continue the family business moving forward,” Sundgren said. “I enjoy the field of agriculture, the people and the markets of the agriculture industry. I also enjoy helping people find their home and the place they want to live.
“I enjoy the diversity of my profession,” he continued. “One day I get to show land in the Flint Hills and see the beauty of that. The next day I’ll be showing a house in El Dorado or working on an auction, helping someone liquidate personal property.”
Sundgren is active in the community. He serves on the Butler Community College Foundation Board of Trustees and has been on the Hospital Foundation Board until he joined the Hospital Board. He serves on the Planning and Zoning Board for Butler County and just recently stepped off of the Coutts Museum Board of Directors. He also has volunteered his auctioneering skills at many community events.
Sundgren is married to Kelsey and they have a daughter, Sylvie, who is 2.
In his free time, Sundgren enjoys being with his family.
“That keeps me busy,” he said. “I enjoy fishing and just spending time checking out the country side. We have some cattle and we enjoy checking on the cattle.”
Now, he is looking forward to his new role on the Hospital Board.
“I’ve been on the Hospital Foundation Board since it was started as a stand-alone board and it’s just a natural transition to step into a new role to help the Hospital,” Sundgren said. “The Hospital has been very progressive and hopefully I can help continue that trend while maintaining the good quality care it provides for the Butler County communities and beyond.”
Dr. Jace Giannetti is an optometrist with Todd and Giannetti EyeCare in Augusta, where he has worked since 2012.
Dr. Giannetti grew up in the small town of Osborne in north central Kansas. He then attended the University of Kansas, receiving his degree in business administration and minor in biochemistry. In 2005, he moved to Chicago to attend the Illinois College of Optometry. He and his wife, Lexi, lived and worked in Chicago for a few years after he completed school.
“My wife is from Wichita, and we decided to move back,” he said.
He started looking for jobs in the area and saw a position open with Dr. Mike Todd in Augusta.
“It’s bigger than my community, but it reminds me of my hometown,” he said.
He likes the opportunities offered in a small town.
“In my line of work I would prefer to have patients you can develop a long, lasting relationship with, rather than seeing them once and maybe never seeing them again,” Dr. Giannetti said.
He has enjoyed spending the last five years in the area and getting to know the people.
“I really enjoy the people part of things,” he said, “the conversations and the ability to help them with their vision and eye health problems.”
Dr. Giannetti is a member of the Augusta Chamber of Commerce Board and is on the Legislative Committee of the Kansas Optometric Association.
His hobbies include golfing, although he said he doesn’t have much time for that.
“My biggest hobby is my commitment to my family,” he said.
He and his wife have two children: Max, 3, and Liv, 1, as well as another child due in September.
Dr. Giannetti is now looking forward to getting involved with the SBA Board of Trustees.
“I’m just really excited about the opportunity,” he said. “I hope to serve the Susan B. Allen and El Dorado community as well as I think I am serving the Augusta community.”
He said he has ideas on continuing the Hospital’s service to smaller communities and is happy to be able to give some input.
