In front of a large and incredibly supportive crowd at the El Dorado City Commission meeting Monday night, Joe Haag was sworn into his new position as El Dorado’s Fire Chief.

“It’s something I’ve worked for my whole, and I can’t be more honored to be chosen to lead this group of great individuals,” Haag said.

He has been with the department for 20 years, and he was a bit emotional with all the support, especially when his father was chosen to give him his official pinning to signify his increase in rank.

“It’s beyond words, really. I couldn’t have imagined how much support I was going to get,” Haag said.
