City Manager David Dillner promoted interim Fire Chief Joe Haag to serve as the fifth Fire Chief to lead the El Dorado Fire Department since its reorganization as the Department of Public Safety to a standalone fire department in 1995.

Chief Haag has served in the El Dorado Fire Department since 1996 as a Firefighter, Driver Operator, Senior Driver Operator, and most recently as Fire Marshal. He has also served as an adjunct Fire Science Instructor at Butler Community College.

“Chief Haag brings a unique perspective after having served in the El Dorado Fire Department for twenty-one years,” says City Manager David Dillner. “He is more than qualified to lead the Fire Department, and will bring enthusiasm and dedication to the position as he leads the department into its next chapter.”

Chief Haag earned an Associate of Science in General Studies from Butler Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership from Friends University, and a Master of Science degree in Emergency Services Management from Columbia Southern University.

The Fire Chief badge-pinning ceremony will be held in the Commission Chambers at City Hall during the City Commission meeting on August 21, 2017. The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm and the ceremony will follow promptly thereafter.
