WWII veteran Charlie Havice wins free roof and installation

Augusta resident and WWII veteran Charlie Havice will be the recipient of a free roof and installation, courtesy of Farha Roofing of Wichita and its annual Free Roof for a Veteran Program.
Nominations were accepted and the winner was announced on Tuesday.  The new roof will be installed during the week of Veteran’s Day, Nov. 5-11.
Havice served in the Air Force for three years during WWII and received the Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal.  He has been active in both the VFW and the American Legion, participating in over 100 veteran funerals and sells Buddy Poppies annually.  Havice is considered a “Living Legend.”
A spokesman for the roofing company stated, “We would like to thank everyone who submitted an entry for the contest, it was a difficult decision.  Farha Roofing is proud to be able to help the veterans in our community.  We appreciate all that our veterans do and this is a small token of our appreciation.”
