Butler County Sheriff's department confirmed that Candice L. Rector, a 19-year-old girl of El Dorado, was the person killed in a car accident Thursday night on SW Hopkins Switch in between 40th and 50th.

Rector was the driver of the vehicle with three other passengers, all of whom suffered serious injuries, as well. The three passengers were taken to a hospital in Wichita, one in critical condition and two in serious condition. The Sheriff's department has not heard that those conditions have been downgraded as of yet.

The vehicle skid along the road near the ditch as Rector lost control and hit a utility pole on the west side of the road. Rector was pinned and had to be extricated, but was pronounced dead on the scene.

The other passengers were similar age from the El Dorado area, as well.

The call came in at about 11:13 p.m. Thursday night. 


A car accident in Butler County Thursday night left one person dead and three others injured after the vehicle hit a large pole. The car accident happened near Southwest 50th and Hopkins Switch in between El Dorado and Augusta.
