Operation Pedal Express Bicycle Ride will be Sunday, Aug. 6 at 1801 W. Central in El Dorado just behind Freddy’s. The operation will raise awareness to support soldiers both past and present.

Check-in time will be 7 a.m. and the start time will be 7:30. Cost is $30 per person or $25 per person in groups of three or more. T-shirts honors the soldiers will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Donations also can be given to help contribute to care packages for when soldiers go off to war. These packages include magazines, candies, kleenex, cheese and sausage logs, soaps, a toothbrush and other items of necessity. In the last year, the American Legion sent 35 packages to soldiers. Each box costs $80, with a $17.35 postage fee, as well.

There will be three routes that give riders a view of the rolling hills of Butler and Seward Counties from which bikers can choose. A motorcycle escort will be provided by the American Legion.

Preregistration can be mailed to the Legion ahead of time, but registration also will be available the day of the event.
