Clean up efforts continue, but lake remains closed
Clean up efforts at Santa Fe Lake are going well, but conditions aren’t looking good for the holiday, according to Rod Davis, caretaker at the lake, stated yesterday.
“The damage is severe and the remaining damaged trees are too hazardous for us to open before the Fourth of July holiday,” Davis advised.
Davis also explained that he will miss seeing campers enjoying the lake, beach and trails this holiday, but will continue working to restore safe conditions.
Following Tuesday’s 2.75 inches of rain, seven large fallen trees were cleared from the lake roads and a number of other large trees have broken limbs.
Anyone wishing to volunteer in assisting with the clean-up, can call or leave a message at the lake office, 316-775-9926.
