El Dorado Middle School students will benefit from a $3,000 Partners in Education (PIE) grant from Kansas Gas Service, a division of ONE Gas.

The EMS Stem “SPARK” grant will allow the middle school to purchase eight Sphero Robotic SPARK balls that will be used by students in sixth through eighth grade. These balls have multiple challenges and projects and include interactive lesson plans.

“By using the power of the iPad, robotics, and coding to enhance the curriculum, students are learning through an engaged digital process that helps them develop the skills necessary to become agile and competitive members of the future workforce,” Julie Jensen, Executive Director of Curriculum, said.

Building on skills obtained using the elementary STEM carts, middle school students will continue to increase their knowledge and abilities by using their iPads to code and control the robotic balls.
