El Dorado Public Schools received a 2017 Golden Achievement Award from the National School Public Relations Association on June 20.
Only two schools from Kansas received this national award, El Dorado USD 490 and Wichita USD 259.
Golden Achievement Awards are based upon the demonstration of exemplary work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing and engagement.
Award judges carefully review nominations based on four key components of an effective public relations program: 1) analysis of the need; 2) planning to meet the need; 3) execution and communication of the program; and 4) formal evaluation. Each entry is judged individually against the contest criteria - not against other entries - and judges select as many winners as meet the award criteria.
USD 490’s entry was facilitated by Kimberly Koop, Director of Information Services, and focused on the May 2016 Bond Issue. The district submitted a standard entry form that explained the nomination and identified how each of the four components were addressed and executed. Several examples of planning and communication documents were also included in the submission packet.
