Western Oil Painter Jim Clements, from El Dorado, received the opportunity to have his paintings hang in the people’s office of the 4th Congressional District, located in Wichita.

Clements was asked if he would be able to hang some of his art because when each congressman leaves office, the newly elected congressman has to arrange for artwork to be loaned to the office for display.

“It was an honor to be asked to hang my paintings in the office,” Clements said. “It is a great opportunity for me to showcase my paintings in the Wichita area, as well as provide art for Congressman Ron Estes’s office.”

Estes won the seat for the 4th District, which was vacated when former Rep. Mike Pompeo was appointed director of the CIA.

Clements work was on display during a recent Open House held at Estes’s office, where those visiting the congressman also could talk with the artist.

Clements’s art represents the American West, depicting scenes of life with cowboys, Indians, mountain men and prospectors, among others.

“To me, painting represents ultimate freedom - so it’s just natural that the wide open spaces, rich history and independent people of the American West translate so well to canvas,” he said. “My desire is to honor the spirit of the West in each painting I do.”

Over the years, his work also has been selected for exhibition in many national shows including: the Red Bluff Art Show and Sale, Red Bluff, California; Windows to the West Invitational show in Estes Park, Colo.; National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration, Lubbock, Texas; the Annual Stampede Western Invitational Art Exhibit, Greeley, Colo.; the Annual American Plains Artists Juried Exhibit, held in various galleries throughout the West; the National Small Oil Painting Exhibition, Wichita; American Royal Western Art Show, Kansas City, Mo.; Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery, Lindsborg; and Spirit of the West Festival, Sioux Falls, S.D. It has also been featured on the television show “Raw Travel”.

Clements studio is located on his farm east of El Dorado. In addition to traveling the country for various art shows, he is represented by the West Lives On Gallery in Jackson Hole, Wyo. For more information visit www.jimclementsart.com
