Kindness in action last Saturday
The Love Augusta volunteers spent Saturday helping local residents with cleaning, painting, yard work and home repairs.
The Love Augusta project, which puts love into action, began about six years ago and expanded from the Augusta United Methodist Church to other area churches, along with other members of the community.
Pastor Steve Spencer with the Methodist Church, who helped organize the first event and still helps coordinate the effort, likes to quote 1 John 3:18 as exhortation for the group’s mission. “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth,“ the verse says.
For anyone wanting to help future Love Augusta funding, the group uses the Community Caring Center as a funding mechanism because they have an established 501c3 tax designation. Those interested can donate money at that location and designate it specifically to the Love Augusta project, or contact the Augusta United Methodist Church at 316-775-1116 for more information.
Love Augusta also has a Facebook page with additional information.
