BOE approves new hires
El Dorado High School filled two positions at the BOE meeting Monday night.
Morgan Marsh was hired to be the new assistant principal at EHS. Brian Engelken has been hired as the new athletic director to replace Heath Elliott.
Marsh earned her Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education at Kansas State University, where she graduated in 2007. She will complete her Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Emporia State University this May.
Marsh worked in the Mulvane School District for five years. There, she was a Language Arts teacher, a coach and a sponsor. She worked with Common Core standards, administered state assessments, and led numerous productive department and advisory group meetings. She's also had experience in the Shawnee Heights School District (2007-08) as well as the Insight School of Kansas in Olathe, where she worked as an online Language Arts teacher.
Engelken also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from Kansas State University (1990). He completed his Master's program at Emporia State University in 2007 and earned a Building Level Administrator (grades K-12) license.
Engelken has worked as an athletic director for Axtell-Berns-Summerfield, Herington, Newton and Tonganoxie school districts at the high school level.
Engelken has taught American History, Law, Economics, World History and Social Studies. He has had experience as a boys basketball head coach, golf coach and assistant football coach.
