Club takes first in two divisions in Mindstorm Challenge
The St. James School and Parish robotics club of Augusta was recognized at Wichita State University's 17th annual Shocker Mindstorm Robotics Challenge on March 11. The club entered two teams in the competition, in the Beginner I and Beginner II divisions. Both teams received first place in display and second place overall in their respective divisions.
The competition includes designing and programming Lego-style robotics to complete specific challenges, documenting the progress in a team notebook, creating a display and for the Beginner II team, participating in a panel interview. Thirty-eight teams participated in this year's challenge.
This is the second year for St. James to participate. The club is made up of 13 current and four former St. James School students, one youth mentor and eleven adults from the parish. In 2016, eleven students entered and took fourth overall.
