This month the Youth Leadership Butler Class of 2015 delivered 60 backpacks to the Sunshine Children’s Home in Andover.

Backpacks included hygiene items for children when they arrive at the home like toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, deodorant, snacks and journals or coloring books. Bags were sorted by different age groups and contained age appropriate items.

Sunlight Children’s Advocacy and Rights Foundation’s Executive Director, Suzi Thien shared with the group information about the home and the children they have come into their care.

“The Youth Leadership Butler group is amazing. We are thrilled with the much needed donations and so very impressed with these wonderful young adults,” stated Thien.

Along with the backpacks, class members collected clothing, books and supplies for the house and will be purchasing and delivering some larger items the house is in need of.

Class projects are part of the Youth Leadership Butler curriculum and are decided, coordinated and implemented by the youth and provide an opportunity to apply skills learned from Youth Leadership Butler sessions.
