Reception Sunday, April 8

Dr. Michael Blaine will be retiring from Park Avenue Baptist Church after 29 years of faithful service; a come and go retirement reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the church.  Everyone is encouraged to stop by and wish him well.
On April 1, 1989 Dr. Mike Blaine began his ministry as pastor of the Park Avenue Baptist. His pastorate followed the nearly six year ministry of Dr. Ed Franklin. On April 1, 2018, Blaine will retire having completed 29 years as pastor of the congregation. In the course of his pastoral tenure, he also served as co-pastor with his wife the Rev. Nancy Marsh Blaine. She retired 10 years ago.
Dr. Blaine was a graduate of the El Dorado High School class of 1967 and the Wichita State University in 1972. His professional education includes a Master of Divinity degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Drew University Theological School in Madison, NJ.  Blaine served as a staff chaplain at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. from 1975 to 1979. He also completed 3 years of Advanced Clinical Pastoral Education in counseling while serving at the hospital.
Rev. Blaine plans to remain in El Dorado and care for his wife Nancy. He is also a licensed extra-class amateur radio operator (AD0VW) and intends to spend more time with his hobbies of radio and dinosaur modeling. Blaine plans to be available for some pulpit supply for pastors who need to be away. He is also working on a website and book which will provide resources for preaching and writing on the topic of creation stewardship.
The Blaine family includes his mother, Phyllis Nace and their children Christana Austin of El Dorado and son Cory Blaine of Ottawa, Kan. Mike and Nancy have 6 grandchildren and one great grandson. Nancy’s family includes her late parents, Amos and Marjorie Marsh.
