Meeting held last month

The annual meeting of K-State Research and Extension/Butler County was held on Nov. 16, at the Butler Community College Welcome Center.
The Butler County Extension office has been in service for over 50 years. In addition to Extension Board members and their spouses, special guests included Butler County Commissioners Ed Myers and wife Nellie, and Mike Wheeler along with Notary Tatum Stafford from the Butler County Clerk’s Office.
Following the meal, the 2017 Extension Council Executive Chair Dereck Chilcott called the annual meeting to order. During the meeting, Charlene Miller, Butler County Extension Director, discussed the duties of the Extension Council and Executive Board members. The Butler County Extension Council and Executive Board members are responsible for overseeing the operations of the Butler County Extension Agents and programs.
The Extension agents led a program called “Wits and Wisdom”. The program focused on questions and answers as they related to the specific programming responsibilities. The County Extension Agents/Coordinator include: Larry Crouse, Horticulture/Community Development Agent, Barbara Roths, Family Consumer Science Agent, Charlene Miller, 4-H Youth Development Agent and David Kehler, Agriculture Program Coordinator
Following the program, the 2018 Butler County Extension Executive Board elections were held. Those elected are as follows: Dereck Chilcott (Chairperson), Les Stalnaker (Vice-Chairperson), Oleta McKinney (Secretary), April Harter (Treasurer), and at-large members Becci Hargrove, Ann Harvey, Brian Hodes, Joe Leibbrandt, Carolyn Webb.
