Weekly devotional

We know that something is always changing; we deal with it daily. The weather is going to change – we just have to wait five minutes. The political field is going to change, or so they say. Our health is going to change, not always in ways we would like. Our family is going to change – for better or worse, richer or poorer. Our lives will change. In one way or another, change will come. Change can be scary. Change can be tough. Change can be painful.

So, where is God’s love during those tough changes? Where is God when my loved one died? Where is God when there is injustice? Where is God when I don’t get my way? The Prophet Isaiah knew a thing or two about change. He was witness to many political, socio-economic, and even religious changes in Israel. He proclaimed this:

“Though the mountains move and the hills shake, My love will not be removed from you and My covenant of peace will not be shaken,” says your compassionate Lord.

                                                                – Isaiah 54:10

God’s love is a constant. God’s love for us is unending. He loves us through the good times and the bad. God’s love is a constant through all of the changes in our lives. Just as you are going to encounter change throughout your life, so too you are going to encounter God’s love. Having a hard time seeing God’s love? Remember the cross. Don’t let the consistent change of life drag you down. Keep your eyes on the cross and your heart in tune with the Lord’s.

Change is a constant, but so is God’s love. Show that love to others today.
