Montessori-based method began at St. Jame sin 2008
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program began at St. James Parish in 2008.
It is a Montessori-based method, which helps children young and old to reach their religious potential. This program is part of a worldwide interdenominational movement.
The lessons use hands-on materials and are presented in a space set aside for the children called “The Atrium.”
This place is prepared from a child’s point of view. Pictures are hung low on the walls. The furnishings and materials invite the children to pray, not play.
Controlled movement is taught and used within this space. The children’s artwork expresses what they experience.
The school would like to invite the public to their Atrium Open House at St. James Catholic School. It will be from 1 to 3:15 p.m. today. Please buzz in the front door.
